Thanks , that was it. I've heard that sometimes the turbo bearing lets go and causes some small amount of metal to enter the engine.

I've got a WG GC CRD

Thanks Guys, If you have any solid evidence via this forum regarding turbo bearings etc, "and Gildo what have you hear after 100k?" please pass it on as I need to build a case so I can hopefully convince the big C to replace or fix the engine at their expense.

PS yesterday in Toowoomba a 4wd caught on fire burning the occupant on the face. I saw the burnt out Grand Cherokee on the back of the truck as I drove passed in my hire car the day after mine blew up wish it was mine that caught on fire at least insurance would cover it

Only forum posts. but it would be easy to check in your case, pull the hoses off the turbo ,check the the turbo spins freely or binds and scrapes.

I'd be surprised if Jeep didn't cover an engine repair at those km's, I've worked at Holden / Holden dealers for the years - they would cover something like that - are you the original owner?

Yeah I am, engine is currently being stripped. Jeep reckon the TSB I sent out would not necessary caused an engine failure.

Funny that ,I would haver thought a changing of main engine bearing was a cause for concern.

G'day team, just to keep you in the loop.

My engine is out of my vehicle, but will not be stripped down until the New Year. My Jeep is sitting outside in the exposed weather at Leo Muller Chrysler Jeep at Mansfield (Brisbane) exposed to the summer storms we are having almost each day. I am required to pay between $1,400-$1,500 to have the engine stripped down and inspected. So far, I have spent $800 to have the vehicle trucked from west of Roma to Brisbane and $380 to have the initial diagnostic.

After that, my dealer claims they will approach Chrysler for a warranty of sorts if they find fault of their product. They were very quick to quote me $44k for a new engine making the point of "worst case scenario".

I have forwarded the TSB I attached that I received from the US site to senior Australian Chrysler management and they claim they have not seen that TSB, and therefore no 300C's or Jeeps GC CRD's in this country have every been recalled. (I wonder why, at 15 hours labour alone to replace main #1 bearing). The manager I spoke to claim that he doubts that a main bearing recall could cause engine failure sic. He claims he has seen one engine fail due to the computer continually switching on a couple fuel injector melting two pistons, his words. I have lost compression in two cylinders also, my fault codes included O2 sensor and turbo boost control, interesting?

I'm playing their game (and playing dumb) for the moment. They are unaware I am the Engineering Manager for a Global company and have duel degrees in Mech/Elec engineering for 15 years and have a lot of engineering resources available should I need it. Believe me, I will give them worst case scenario if they don’t fix this engine free of charge and reimburse me every cent I have spent so far.

I'm sure every 300C forum also will want to know this problem and Ch 7 Today Tonight will want to re-run a story of not only Jeeps Grand Cherokee's catching on fire, but the claim by Australian Chrysler that they did not know about the TSB in am discussing and, that they walk away from customers after 3 years and 2 months with 110,000kms on the clock for a vehicle that had been serviced since new by the same dealer.
At present, close to 700 are viewing this post, the more that watch the more weight I carry.
