Default Second battery setup

Hi All

I have a 2011 WK2, I am looking for inspiration in terms of where everyone places their second battery?

I have seen searching through threads that depending on the extras you have the under passenger seat option is too small - which I think is the case for me.

1) From what I have seen the alternative really is putting it inside the spare wheel? Is this the only option?

2) Anyone can share photos of their setup?

3) any advice on where to mount 12v control box

Thanks in advance!

I stuck a 130AH AGM in a battery box inside the centre of the spare wheel (strapped down) with a CTEK DCDC charger next to it. I have an Anderson plug coming up and out into a kickass control box mounted next to the sub in the boot of my limited. Pretty happy with it. Doesn't impinge on boot space, looks neat.

Nice one Davet

Thinking also the same

When you say behind the sub for the control box is that just on the side wall in the boot?

yep that's right. It's nothing too elaborate. Doesn't really get in the way, I can still put the fridge up beside it.

This is the box, it's pretty versatile. I am quite happy with it.

From what I have seen and read if you don't have the air suspension then you should be easily able to fit a 120-130ah AGM under the passenger seat, I wish we could do this with our 120 but we have air suspension so that is out of the question....

I have 2 xtc drawers in the back, kings fridge on top, and a 55amp iTechworld lithium slim battery and Renogy dcdc charger in the gap on the left between the drawers and the left side of the boot

I put mine under the passenger seat (UK), and the DC-DC converter under the rear seats. I use the centre of the spare wheel for towing strops, jump leads, etc.

I cut the plastic tray out, and moved the relays to the edge, there is a bit you can tuck them into. There is a big blob of sound deadening at the bottom, which I needed to scrape out, to fit my Sealed Lead acid battery, so I then Hammerited the bay, to protect it from rust. I lined it with rubber sheet, and fitted some straps.

I have a Waeco 40amp DC-DC converter, and a Waeco Battery charger both under the rear seats. I have a mains socket mounted in the boot handle trim, so I can plug the car in to charge both batteries when the car is stood, or where there is Mains Hook up.

I also added 2 volt meteers, so I can keep an eye on them both.
