Stanly, if you will only loss 2grand droping your JK 2dr now........ Then do it!!!!!

Wranglers have the highest re-sale value then anyother car in Aust. I am sure your new car salesman would of told you this! However when you bought the JK you would of paid approx 3k in dealer and gov charges which you will never get back.. So if your after a 4dr Go get it... Like already posted consider it a cheap rental untill you picked up your 4dr.

As for mods, your new to the 4x4 thing... This is the best advise you'll be given......... SLOW Down, Read the JK threads of lift and tyres and every possible question you have will be answered in there... And remember Do it once Do it right.... Often the "cheaper option" will cost you more cause you wont be 100% happy, and reguards to the "budget" there obviously is one if the mrs wont let you drop 2k to get into a 4dr..

Go find out how much things cost and then decide on what you want then save for it or buy it if you have the $$ and feel as though you know plenty about what your buying..

Like the Evo there are many ways of doing things, if its just a cruiser you want with a big set of boots to look mean and do the odd weekend trip off road, then 33's and a 3' lift would be overkill more then anything and you would love it!

And with 33s re gearing is not required.. You dont come from an evo into a JEEP to go fast so if it takes an extra 0.0001 of a sec to hit 100km/hr on the freeway im sure you wont mind

With a set of 33's rims and a 2.5- 3' lift you would have change out of 5k and this is all bolt on stuff so if you wanna put it on the 2dr then swap to a 4dr later this is money well spent!

Welcome and good luck!

Hemi

i have driven a 2 door on road and it is sensational i brought the 4 door and it is more comfortable as the longer wheelbase smooths things out abit the 4 door will still go like a scalded cat and is extremly caplable off road as anyone who has been with me will agree its limitations is ramp over it will hang up in the belly it just means you have to pick your lines climbing it can go more vertical than a 2 door as it wont be upright as quick because of its length so both are as capable as each other just in different areas
i love the look of the 4door i think it lookes more balenced as they do have a long bonet and with the standard bumper the 2 door i feel looks all nose
just my feeling im not bagging them

explain to her the benefit of extra luggage space for trips space for fridge and all the other gear
eg. the missus & i went for a 4 day weekend away we took queen swag 50ltr waeco fridge 3 burner stove light camp kitchen fishing gear recovery gear cloths pots & pans 10 ltr jerry can (for duel fuel stove and light) tarp tent poles chairs and table
all in the 4door could still see out the back window and rolled the swag out in the jeep with the back seats folded down
and had a ball wheeling with other jeep owners on stockton beach
it is very usable space and makes a great vehicle for long trips camping and enjoying the outdoors
