I think if it's within the same temps (min and max) as the one it replaces it should be fine.

Another issue will be... is the replacement sender within the same resistance range as the original? not all senders are compatible with all gauges

The only way to be sure is to stick the sender in some boiling water and note the temp. Maybe you could extend the wiring from under the car and boil some water in a saucepan on a camp stove. To be really accurate you would need to measure the colourless steam or use distilled water but I'd be happy with +/- 5*.

What's the best way to mount these aftermarket coolers? Can you get mounting kits?

Check out go jeeps site..he has a well described option..its the way I went except I used the existing cooler as well..no problems so far.Click image for larger version

Of course there are a few other options as well.. But this one worked for me..

It looks like you might be right about that because I'm not getting any reading on the gauge.

Email from Tridon: "The TTS036 is a water temperature sender. It is not designed for automatic transmissions. The internal specifications will not suit your gauge and the unit will not withstand the high temperatures produced by your transmission."

Default Help!

Just brought a 95 xj sport, I have read this post front to back and I think for Perth weather and towing I need a trans cooler, I want to bypass the radiator. Can someone please tell me if this cooler will be ok to use, it is 255x280x19 and it has 3/8 fittings many thanks Dylan.
