Default WH CRD Fuel Filter

Hello all,

I'm new to diesels and I want to change fuel filter on the WH CRD.
I have purchased a MANN filter and am keen to have a go.
What i have read online is, remove turbo inlet hose, loosen clamp, remove hoses and pull filter.
Remove water sensor, change 'O' Rings, fit to new filter. Re install and connect hoses....
NOW.

1. Do I have to pre fill it with diesel?
2. Do I have to bleed the air out of the system?
3. If yes is this done by, unscrewing cap on water sensor. Turning key to acc. wait for diesel to shoot out and tighten cap.

Am I missing something?

Cheers
Dave

1. Do I have to pre fill it with diesel? NO
2. Do I have to bleed the air out of the system? It’s a good idea to bleed but you can get away not doing it.
3. If yes is this done by, unscrewing cap on water sensor. Turning key to acc. Wait for diesel to shoot out and tighten cap. Basically yes. The water sensor has a nipple to put a clear hose on it, I use a piece about a foot long running into a jar like when you bleed the brakes. Turn ignition to the on position and the system will prime, when no more bubbles appear you are done.

I had a tiny leak on the fuel filter hoses on the CRD, which caused my swirl motor to fail

40 cent fix with resister but no more swirl motor I think I would have rather kept.

So once the old one was out I found the new filter was not correct.

As you can see in the image, its too short.
I was forced to put the old on back in....now the car seems to hesitate slightly.
I'm going to stop driving it until I, replace the filter.
Does anyone locally (Sydney) stock these?
Does Jeep charge the world for them?

Cheers
Dave
