I do use the name "bleetnblurt" for a reason you know ,
if you do go through some of the post I replied to , at least then it will give you a good laugh .
a xj was the first jeep I decided to buy , there a good car when done right , but like all cars they do have there issues.
NOTE: you said about hard shifting for the transfer ? there is a linkage that runs part to the body , these can get rust in them and can cause part of the body to give way causing the linkage to slap around , you really need to look at this area to see if it has been rusted out, if it has get it fixed (weld new plate in) but if you have to do make sure battery is not connected and earth for mig weld can not effect the computer (unplug it) you will find that the rear diff has clutch plates inside ,check ALL of the diff so on so on , best off to look around on this site and have a read about all this sort of thing . the xj I owned was a 95 limited , where the blasted remote fob would not work , I had look up the wiring and replaced it with a cheap nasty made in china one , ....... it worked , (the receiver was in the roof, note a black half globe) now I must go and finish off doing this wg grand in the stinking heat . will be back around whinging and bitching about it on a post I have written up.
good luck on your xj , enjoy it , and relax , life is too short
