Get eyes on the tensioner again too. Even quality stuff can unexpectedly fail, and it's an easy one to rule out.

Had some time today, checked the tensioner and it was soo tight it couldn’t move, a little bit of slippery and a tweak on the retaining bolt and it now works, I still have the noise but I have narrowed it down to my ac compressor,
Can the brains trust advise if it was low on gas would that cause the rattle or am I up for a new clutch or compressor?

Have had occasional vibration via the dash from the AirCon over the 9 years of ownership.
Did read some time ago that theres a couple of AC pipes behind the dash that can vibrate against it and can be moved slightly or insulated.
Its one of those jobs I havent got around to yet

Out of interest where did you add the 'slippery' to on the serpentine tensioner ?
Current belt has been on for 65,000Km and was considering doing a change.
Original tensioner failed around 107,000Km (not long after getting the timing belt and water pump done) and replaced with a factory VM. which has now done 30,000Km

Change timing belts at 85-90k, depending on car (if towing or hard 4x4 change it at 80k ish)
Serp tensioners are known to only last around 70,000km with bigger rubber, closer to 100 with factory rubber. Doing timing belt and serp tensioner at 80ish km at the same is ideal.

the CRD aircon will make a churrggg noise when it goes on and off, this is normal. How noisy yours is,none of us will know or can tell you if its normal or not.

Tensioner pivot bolt was over tightened
I backed it off a smidge and lubricated around the inner and outer face . The tensioner now moves.
I think the guys who rebuilt it over tightened the pivot bolt after installing the serpentine belt.
Going to take it for a long run today to see if it settles down .
If this doesn’t work, I will remove the ac clutch and replace the clutch bearings.

DO NOT FORGET about the OVER RUN PULLEY on the ALTERNATOR fitted to the diesel.
THIS WILL start to make horrible chattering sounds OCCASIONALLY as it starts to SHIT ITSELF. The more load, the more noise. Mine started to fail at 180k and the intermittent nature made it hard to pinpoint.....Replacement pulleys are available if this is your issue.
This issue will get progressively worse and it had me scratching my head until I saw the aftermarket battery voltage display drop when the noise was happening, noise=loss of drive to the alternator.

I have had no gas in my ac for a long time without any noises..
