The only thing I can think of is maybe you are getting hooked up on the carpet. Other than that I'm not sure.
Surely you aren't hitting the steering column?
I've never heard of this one before with a Wrangler but I tend to get caught up when driving my wife's Ford Fiesta due to the pedals being so close together.

Sounds like the toe of your shoe is contacting the OBD11 connector port at the bottom of the dash. I found this annoying so I moved my port across to the drivers side of the footwell and bent the bracket under the dash up out of the way.

Size 13's here and I find it quite tight with shoes on. Barefoot is the way to go.. Don't like how low the throttle sits in relation to the brake pedal though (Auto).
