Default QuadraDrive doesn't work as advertised..

Can anyone with Quadra-Drive verify anything said from this article?

Especially watch the videos?

http://md.co.za/jeep/index.htm

Maybe Lockers are the go from the Open Diffs of the Quadra-Trac II..?

I liked what I had read about the Quadra-Drive system until this article..?

I have no problems with my Quadradrive ( it works fine) but you do need to make sure the diff fluid is correct and run it without any friction modifier, as it was designed to be run (friction modifier was only added to address a complaint by soccer mums about 'tyre chirp' and 'diff lock' on tight turns).

Hard to say if he was in high range or low range as the QDII on the WH worked awsome at low range but non existant in high range.

Might find he was in high range still?

Well I just came back from Easter with a local 4wd club, and I was going there with the expectation of wiping the smiles of the faces of all the guys with their lifted and locked Patrols & Cruisers who were bagging me out for going from a Patrol to a Grand. I had to eat humble pie as they winched me up this hill that my Patrol never had an issue doing.

Yes, it was a serious hill and only the twin locked cars made it up, but I got stuck with diagonal wheels just spinning, whilst the ones with traction just sat there not moving.

And I have only just changed the diff oils to Mopar and put in 50% amount of the recommended amount of FM. So now it's straight to the mechanic and drop that oil and refill without any FM at all. If that doesn't work, then will have to do just the simple stuff, as we all know you can't get an air locker that fits straight in.

This has also been covered.
The QD system does not work like a psuedo locker like Jeep advertising would lead you to believe. The design has the ability to transfer very close to 100% torque but is limited well below this (probably to protect cv's ,axles ,etc.).
The rear diff is a lot more aggressive, it starts to 'lock-up' a lot quicker & transfers a lot more torque ,but its nowhere near 100%.
The exact amount off 'lock-up' is open to opinion (no figures avail & no-one scientifically tested) my guess would be about 30% front & 60% rear.
Ive wheeled with GU nissans & would say our rear diff offers similar amount off torque transfer ,of course we also have the front lsd & much better suspension articulation.
