Hi Wilmo, I am new to the jeep diesel family (although I have previously owned a v8 grand cherokee & a wrangler) I am hoping you can help me out with some info on the Provent 200. Where & how did you mount the unit? I have a 2002 KJ Cherokee Sport and I don't seem to have any space to mount the provent. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wilmo is long gone from the Jeep world, but he was the original author of this thread. There are a number of examples and threads here on the KJ Forum that depic the install of the Provent. The typical location is behind the battery on the passenger side. Please use the Search function to track down all the references. This is my first post!
I purchased a 2005 cherokee crd 3 years ago with 85,000 k I have now racked up 157,000, been diligent with oil changes, but in three years replaced 2 rear brake sensors, now the abs & the oil pressure light is on so I guess replace again plus the oil pressure sensor, my questions are is this normal?
I also have no record of the timing belt ever being checked, do I need to worry?
And lastly should I look at upgrading? I love my limited edition jeep it's a fantastic vehicle, and apart from the sensors going on a regular basis the jeep has been faultless, thank you for any input you can provide,

Change the timing belt now, it was scheduled to be changed by 100,000kms or five years of age (which would be back in 2010 in the case of a 2005 model). Consider yourself very lucky but change it now!

Make sure that the timing belt tensioner and the idler pulleys (2) are changed at the same time. On a 2005, which is now 8 years old i'd also replace the water pump which is driven by the timing belt and is easier to do when the belt is changed. Make sure the job is done by someone that knows what they are doing with VM diesels.

Hey guys,

Just bought my KJ 2 weeks ago and the hose has unfortunately split prior to me getting my provent.

I've looked at Samco but since I'm not Pablo Escaba I can't afford it and was looking at an Omix equivalent (ebay Special) for around 100 bucks.

Anyone used or heard of this?

You can sometimes salvage the split hose by removing it and cleaning it up and then taping it up using silicon tape (like Rescue or Tommy tape), that might keep you going until you find a replacement. In Australia Hyperflow is a good source of Samco hoses and they can deliver pretty quick. Even if you go to Jeep to get them they are going to cost about the same. IDparts in the US has them for $279 and they usually take a week to get here via USPS faster by Fedex.

Thanks for the advice, I took to it with a Stanley and managed to salvage it. Saved some big dollars there I owe you a beer. These pics will show just how terribly sooted everything was. Whilst I had the hose off I did a makeshift EHM with a rubber stopper in the intake and redirected the CCV to behind the battery. Will install a catch can tomorrow.

By the way Glend I didnt "quote" you so you may not have seen yet but I queried your suspension set up under Wilmo's lift kit thread. Let me know if what I wrote was accurate or not.

Third pic is what my MAP looked like as well. Nothing a few bottles of degreaser and carb cleaner couldn't fix
