With the 7"s they do spread the light quite well but are more like spots. So i guess somewhere in between. I have used these on back country roads and they are really good. They light up at least 100m, i would've been in trouble without them. I reckon you could have these as your only auxiliary lights no worries. Turns the road from nighttime to daytime in one flick of a switch.
