Default ARB Tow bars rated only for 1000kg??

G'day

I've got my first ever jeep, only a month ago.
2 door JK 2016 brand spanking new!
went to the ARB to install tow bar on it
i was told that the ARB tow bars (~$800 installed) only rated up to 1000kg
which is a bit lower figure than I hoped!!

Are there any other recommended alternatives?

Can 2 door JK can only carry 1000kg as trailer?

2 door is limited to 1000kg tow weight....the 4 door, I think, 2500????
Anyway, apparently its the short wheel base that is the limiting factor for the 2 door.
Forget ARB's towbar.....bloody over priced (like a lot of ARB stuff)
Get a DBOR towbar and wiring kit.....straight forward install, and I seem to recall the DBOR towbar comes with an ADR certification sticker.....way cheaper than the ARB price you quote.

The car is only rated to 1000kg however tows 1000kg extremely easily with the only issue being the legal implications if it's over 1000kg

My camper is 1150kg and tows very well, doesn't even use much more fuel @110kph

My previous toy car was a suzuki jimny that was rated to 1300kg and was very sketchy towing anything over 750kg

I have the Mopar towbar. It states the capacity as:

MY11 - 2DR/4DR - 1600/2300kg - 160/170kg tongue
MY12 - Petrol 2DR/4DR - 1000kg/2000kg - 100/200kg
MY12 - Diesel Auto/Man - 2200/2300kg - 220/230kg

But "refer to door pillar label for owners hand book for vehicle model specific towing capacities"

While it may tow it well, and you mentioned legalities, I'd say a huge issue would be if you have an accident whilst towing and your insurance becomes void.

It's not a issue where I live however I mentioned the legal implications for the people that live in populated areas or nanny states.

Will never be weighed in the event of a crash and will only be assessed by photos. At a rough guess 1/2 the cars in the area are unregistered with unlicensed drivers so a reg car is pretty much ticking all the boxes.
