I found one up here in a tool shop - a Renegade (think Miller?) for under $700.
200A with all stuff for TIG as well except for gas and rods.

after doing some more research appraently other 100amp inverter welders only weld 0.6-2.0mm thick? pretty useless for me, i hope its incorect. no info is available on cigweld website.

Had a quick look and the duty cycle is 100% at 45AMP at 100AMP its only 20%, so 2 minutes of welding and 8 minutes of waiting for it to cool down when flat out. It does do TIG as well though if you want that. What sort of plate thickness are you looking at welding with it?

Cheers
Steve

im a little confused when you say plate thickness,is this the thickness of the two pieces and the combined thickness or the one piece being welded?,if individually then at most 5-6mm. although id like to be able to do more. sorry but ive got no clue about this ARC stuff.

i might go back to bunnings and recheck the specs on this thing, because they make it in 130,170 AMP so id be more inclined to go the 170 if available.
