Default Six loud chimes on startup without seatbelt! Does anyone else have this issue?

My WH 2006 CRD has a very annoying feature.

If you start the engine before you insert the seatbelt, it will chime loudly six times.

The seatbelt disable procedure that is well known (key on with seatbelt in, unplug three times etc.) disabled for the chime that happens when you're driving without a belt, but I'm not worried about that one as I always wear it.

My issue is the I usually start the engine as soon as I get in the vehicle, then muck around for a bit letting it warm up. I never remember to hop in and put on seatbelt first, and often I don't want it on until I start to drive.

I'm wondering if I can fiddle with the connections on the yellow seatbelt connector under the seat and trick it that the seatbelt in attached. If I unplug that plug, the chime stops but I get an airbag warning light on the dash. I don't want airbag malfunctions!

Any ideas are much appreciated!

Yep, it's just as annoying as when you leave the keys in the ignition and open the Door.

You should hear the symphony on a Jeep Club Trail day LOL

Haha thanks for the input everyone! I'll embrace the way! I might cover up the speaker to dull the sound too.

Apart from a Jeep, I have 3 BMW's from 3 different decades. The Germans don't treat you like an idiot, one chime for each warning, and only once you are moving.

Not sure what that says about the Yanks attention span...

Also dings with the key in, lights on and so on. Just remember it is set up for the lowest common denominator, oh and court loving Americans.
