Default "Oil Change Required" message on starting

Is there any reason this message could appear in a 2016 JKU other than the stealer forgot to reset after oil change? Oil was changed a month ago.

I thought there might be some other kind of sensor detecting sludge after ash contamination from the NSW Bush fires.

I have seen the YouTube videos on how to reset, but was unsure what kind of conditions cause this message to appear. If I do reset myself, what is the next service interval that the message should reappear?

There are no other warning lights illuminated and there are no leaks.

They are supposed to be duty cycle based and use an algorythm based on km done, type of driving etc. but mine has only come on in my 2015 wrangler about 5 times in 140000km, I just reset and forget. As long as your services are getting done it's all good.

Petrol or diesel?
I had the oil change required message coming up on my 2015 WK2 diesel at approx every 2500km due to excessive regens & fuel dilution of the engine oil.

I had this same problem after I had the misso's '16 JKU serviced at the dealer in Wollongong.

I just followed the instructions in this vid, and the oil change reminder reset itself:

Many thanks, I cleared the message a few days ago.

I haven't been driving the car any differently or on long distances in the past 3 weeks. It has mostly sat in the garage.

I just wanted to know whether the stealer forgot to reset the next service interval, or the soot and ash from the atmosphere (nearby megablaze) was somehow getting into the engine.
