Default XJ: 4.7 stroker build

Well I am going to build a stroker. I have a set of top quality pistons that I just need to pay the last few bucks on. I hopefully have a crank lined up. Then I am going to source an donor engine. I have been watching local Gumtree and missed out on a 95 long motor partially disassembled. $200 shoulda just got it when I saw it. Anyway another might turn up before I need one. Plan is to take in the block assembled minus head and sump. I will then get it recoed and get the recoers to assemble to the short motor minus sump. That's the plan at this stage anyway. I am a long way off atm. As don't have spare coin for a build just yet. However I will collect start collecting the parts ready for when I have the big bucks to get the major work done. By the time I have the block rebored I may even choose to reassemble the short engine myself, undecided on that one. Heck I may even disassemble to short motor prior to taking it in. Eventual plan is to send the head over to Melbourne and get it match ported for my new 99 manifold which I have in Qld and extractors when I get them. I figure I might as well build something shit hot as I will be happier than if I skimp on it and later wish I hadn't.

Regards A

Don't expect its going to transform it into V8 power.
It will run like a strong 4.0.
And dep on how you use it, it should also use slightly less fuel overall than a stocker, that's the general consensus of stroker owners.
My TJ is set up almost identically to Flexys (with his having a stock motor). Standing start over 400m theres a few car lengths in it.
Itchys will be going this weekend with a 4.6 stroker, interested to see his thoughts.

Personally, unless your current motor is tired, blowing oil and smoke, lacking compression on a few cylinders etc, I wouldn't bother. Sorry to rain on your parade.

My engine is still sound but I want to do I regardless. Like I said she won't be a standard 4.7, she will have a decent head and some other bits to make it go better. I am not expecting a Hemi 5.7 out of it but I do want some more HP and with my plans it will be pretty decent.
