Went to Jambo for 3 nights. Didn't end up going on any of the official trips due to them being either way too extreme, not challenging enough or booked out. This area is one of those well explored by myself and the Jeep owners I usually drive with, so we just did our own trips often coming across the official groups. I put the KK on the flex ramp for a laugh and onto the test track just to see if it could make it (which it did), hoping to get my hands on photos soon.
Saw only 2 other KK's (maroon and white) that were totally stock which was a shame. I was also surprised to see TJ's and JK's slow down and drive past hill climbs and water crossings which I've already done a few times in the KK, I'll admit they've become harder but I still got through again and that's with nothing more than a lift, a pair of muddies and the factory traction aids.
Perhaps they're just better at ignoring temptation as I did get myself into a tricky spot or two, not to mention some plastic and panel damage. Had to remove and refit the drivers side front quarter and guard one evening, it's interesting to see that the skeleton is very much the KJ. Which only makes it harder to understand why no snorkel was produced and I could have used one on this trip, one section of the Coxs river had water half way up the headlights but no indication it touched the air filter thankfully.
Here are some pics that I managed to get so far:
Our camp site at Rydal Showgrounds (Jambo 2015).
Stuck between a rut and a tree. Note: this is a super steep track that you'd never imagine a KK could climb.
Lunch in style on Mt Walker peak looking over Lithgow.
Led our group on a private tour through an old tunnel.
JK, JK, JK, KK swimming up the Cox's River.
Parked on the field for show and shine, most Jeeps weren't shining but some went to the trouble of cleaning theirs (not us).
Photo opportunity at the forestry ruins on our way home.
