HELP!! Overheating Issues??!!??
Okay can some of you tech heads out there please help??
07 Diesel overheating badly, off the guage!
Pass side hose and tank stinking hot, while drivers side hose barely warm. Cracked bleeder (on drivers side) little bit of air came out but coolant was only about 45C while otherside was 100+.
Does it sound like blocked radiator, blocked thermostat or ????
Just been chatting to a mechanic mate suggested pull the thermostat and check its operation. Anyone pulled one from these motors they seem to be in a shite spot for access.
Rather not be reamed by the Jeep dealer but running outa options.
Any CONSTUCTIVE help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like you have no flow through the radiator and the thermostat is stuck closed. You could get the Natrad gjys to check it. If your thermostat is stuffed the whole assembly will need replacing because the VM engine uses a German Behr tronik unit. Chances ard Jeep will need to order it. Good luck
Btw don't drive it, you could blow the head gasket

Is the thermostat a backyard fix or is it harder than a normal one?

It is not a normal thermostat but it can be changed in about 15minutes. You will need to find the part number, I can give you the CRD enhine part number that applies to the VM engjne in the KJ but I can't promise its the same as yours. Its a housing with tbe thermmostat inside as a single assembly

Why can't it be easy like a normal dunnydore thermostat!!??!!
Can they be checked like a normal one in a boiling saucepan??

No, you can't remove it without taking the whole assembly out. It manages the flow to four outlets from one inlet. You can't even see it as it is down inside the assembly. There is a test in the service manual that involves blocking off the radiator front to increase the temperature to the point it should open (which is 195F) but since your already overheating then it's clear there is no flow. The part # for the thermostat assembly (plus the gasket you need) for VM2.8L CRD engine (as used in the 2007 KJ CRDS) and probably the 2007 JK CRDs is 5142601AA. If you Google that number you will find many suppliers. IDparts in the US is the cheapest at about $90 but you will need to pay another $40 or so for shipping but they can usually deliver in a week or ten days via Fedex. You better confirm the part number with someone that has a JK CRD parts list, or from Jeep Australia. Ask Jeep AUstralia what it costs from them, i would be surprised if they have them in stock but you never know.
As I said before, you could get NatRad to have a look at it because they have equipment to test flow through. There is a possibility that it is due to other factors (like a radiator blocked by mud) which I hope you have checked.
