Ahhh, but the Pope is known to have driven a Jeep as one of his Popemobiles in the US.

As someone who would like to be Pope, I find the term 'Popemobile' offensive.

Frankly, I don’t see how this is any different.
You don’t even need to enter into questions of cultural appropriation to see that Jeep have been pushing it for years now. It’s a matter of when, not if, they retire the name.

I have been to a few casinos in the States that are owned by the native population that not only have their tribal names displayed but also a few nick-nacks such as tribal headwear and bows and arrows for the tourists. They seem happy to make a profit from their name and culture.

C’mon... Apples and oranges, really.
Ford Motor Co has pretty clear lineage in its name. It was the name of the man who established the brand, and he was entitled to use his own name, and to onsell the rights to do so to future iterations of the company.
That’s not how the Cherokee badge came to be slapped on SUV’s.
The Cherokee people have now spoken up and asked Jeep not to use their cultural identity as a marketing tool. Jeep should respect that.

How much has Jeep paid the Cherokee people over the 40-50 years they’ve been slapping Cherokee badges on cars?
Genuine question - I thought is was $0, but happy to be corrected.

Easy fix. Rename it the Jeep Cherry-key.

You obviously don’t realise when someone is being sarcastic. You haven’t been on this forum for long, but you will get the hang of it. No need to be so serious about something like this. We need to have a laugh occasionally. A lot have forgotten how to do this these days. This is what is wrong with the world these days.
