Default Homemade Disconnects

I plan on having a go at making some disconnects from my standard links this weekend. Anyone done it before and have any tips. I've download a few sets of instructions from the net so know what I need to buy from Coventry fastners but any personal experiences would be welcome.

Cheers
Steve

not trying my extended links are you? I didn't realise that they'd hit the underside of the battery tray/airbox! Got 2 nice little dings under there now! :O

Mate seriously it is simple as. I used to do this on my XJ when I was running the 4" lift.

All you need is 2 x wing nuts. End of story.

undo the wing nuts with your hand, undo bottom bolt with spanner on the trail, tue up sway bar with hockey strap, no more than 3 min work to do both side.

cost. Prob $5 for nuts and hockey straps.

if your worried about wing nuts coming off, drill hole through bolt so you can put a pin in also.

Was planning on trying that as well. So the top of the swaybar hits when connected, or am I misunderstanding something?

Jimmyb, I was planning on a wing nut for the top like you say, but a hitch pin for the bottom so I dont have to unbolt the bottom and can just pull a tine pin out and slide the link off.

Yeah heard that too, one suggestion was to go with a 1/2 inch pin and use a dremel with grinder bit on it to thin it out very slightly. Aparently 7/16ths is a little too small and rattles and 1/2 is a little too big, I'll try the 1/2 and see how tight a fit I can get. Rattles will not go down well with the better half when she's driving it.

Bogged, I'll call.

Cheers
