Default Noise when turning hard left...

Hi All

I have struck a problem with my Grand - it is making a nasty noise on occasion, when I hook the wheel hard left. It isn't a metal grinding noise, more a plastic shuddering type thing. (Sorry - not very teknikal when it comes to cars )

Have looked underneath, and discovered the boot cover over the ball joint is busted. Took it in to the mechanic for a quick look-see, and he informed me that it could well be the drive shaft needs replacing

Mind you, when he took it for a test drive, it never made the noise...TYPICAL!!!

Now I am wondering if it REALLY is the drive shaft, or if I can just replace the cover over the ball joint.

Am I making sense or do I just sound like a blonde woman with nfi?

Anyway, has anyone come across this problem before?....

Ariel
