The area in and around Wittenoom is heavily contaminated with blue asbestos fibres. Exposure to these fibres presents a public health risk that could result in mesothelioma, lung cancer or asbestosis.

"Travelling in the area should be avoided."

I remember a Secondary school trip to Tasmania, one of the "sites" was to wander into an abandoned Asbestos mine. Doubt its on the itinerary any longer...

We used to go to Wittenoon heaps as a kid when we lived in Tom Price. Awsome place from the scenery but yes the asbestos is everywhere and on everything.

a scientific study proved that 100% of people never exposed to absestos died as well

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"
