What Jeep do I drive?: TJ
Default West Aussie TJ Buildup

Howdy All...

Im probably a couple of months off completing my TJ - while Wooders finishes organising everything for me.

Thought I would start the thread anyway - I have some parts coming over next week probably and then the remainder should arrive just after Christmas.

This is my TJ currently;

2 ½" OME Lift
1" BL w/ MML
4.56 Ratios Front & Rear
ARB Air Lockers Front & Rear
32" Goodyear MTR's
Nth Degree High Clearance Skid Plate
Other bits and pieces (like snorkels, Radio's, CB and that sort of stuff.)

To Come:

Bestop R-A-T w/- Tinted Windows
5" TNT Customs Long Arm Kit
New Venture NV4500 Transmission
TBT Rear Bar w/- Tyre Carrier
TBT Flexie Tie Rod
35" Mickey Thompson Baja Claws

I will post pictures and what not as i go along.

Picked up my 35's today (the full size spare should be here Wednesday next week) and am very impressed. The Mickey Thompsons were actually quite cheap (about the same price as my 32" MTR's). I shall grab some pictures later on when I can locate the camera (it has to be here somewhere).

Cheers.

Hey Wallace,

good luck with the build. Cant wait to see plenty of pics.

Does your TNT long arm use its own t/c skid plate or are you sticking with the nth one that you have?

CN's, glad to see you didn't stay away too long. I have thought about selling my TJ before but I think I wouldn't last more than a week without it. Just too much fun to be had.

Hey Terror -

Dont worry - there will be plenty of pictures. most certainly of the install of the NV4500....

The TNT kit comes with its own skid plate. I was going to buy the Nth degree kit in "pieces" but - since they no longer exist... thats hard, no one has any stock.

cheers.

Yeah was thinking the same thing with the Nth degree LA kit. That looked like an awesome setup and who knows when AEV will get their act together.

Excuse my lack of knowledge but whats a NV500 transmission and what are the benifits?

NV4500 is like the bigger brother of the NV3550.

the 4500 is used in alot of the Chevy and Dodge V8 trucks. If you are up for a bit of reading - here are a couple of good web pages for you;

http://www.nv4500.com/
http://www.high-impact.net/transmiss...ear/nv4500.htm

My NV3550 is cactus - rather than getting it rebuilt im putting in this which is about the same length, size etc - but is alot beefier than the NV3550.

looking tops wallace, you'll be impressed with the baja claws.. for such an aggressive tread pattern they're reasonably quiet on road.

we'll be going to 35" claws too when our current set wear out

Well - my stuff arrived...

I was too excited... i didnt take photo's of the installation as i was pushed for time - but i fitted my rear TBT bar.

It was dark by the time i was done - so i will take some photos tomorrow (still got a few things to finish off)...

Tomorrow evening the bestop will be going on as well... then - just have the wait till the rest of the gear arrives

got some underbody spray today.

This stuff is a tar / rubber / bitumen based product. Has a rust inhibitor in it and sprays on with a spray gun (a bit like a paint spray gun... only different).

If you want to know what stuff i am talking about - climb under your TJ and have a good feel / look at the chassis... it should have a rubber feel to it. That's this stuff...

Some pics;
