Ok,

When you post in this thread it must be related to a high level area as described below or in the misc section and then describe in detail and/or relate to a known Technical Service Bulliten (TSB). Copy the entinre section and add your comments to the sections.

BODY EXTERIOR -

INTERIOR -
- Cloth seats stain very easy. TSB on this for the dealer to wash for you once.

ENGINE -
3.0 CRD -
- Swirl motor for the Turbo may make a clattering noise as this is the vaccum pump on the blink. Also delivers very poor performance.
- Injectors need to be reprogramed when they arre replaced or they will not talk to the computer.
3.7 -
4.7 -
5.7 -
- Is a known HEMI shudder but not sure if this affects the export model.
6.1 -

TRANSMISSION - QuadraTrac (QT) or QuadraDrive (QD)
- Service 4WD System light will illuminate and chime regularly. TSB to re flash and tighten connectors

TRANSFER CASE -

SUSPENSION -
- Rear spring mount isolators creak/squeak, TSB fix for replacement isolators

STEERING -

ELECTRICS and ELECTRONICS -
- PCM eaten by battery acid. This is of note and has happened to me as an isolated case. The battery was either overcharging or leaked during servicing and hence the PCM is directly under the battery and it ate the aluminium cover and the PCB within. This caused no end of fault codes as well. Also the wiring harness on the left hand side facing forward of the vehicle had to be replaced due to the acid ingress.
- Window regulators on the front neede replacing

WHEELS and BRAKES -
- Brake Rotors need machining front
- Minor shudder when braking uphill

ACCESSORIES -
- If you fit the factory nudge bar you cant fit the factory rated recovery points at the same time.

MISC -

Lets start populating this.

Don't know how many times I have had a re-flash but the "service 4wd system" warning comes on every time I take mine off road

if u fit the factory nudgebar on a car with parktronic, it sends the parktronic crazy cause the nudge bar goes straight over the sensors
3.0LT CRD: trans wiring harness seals leak trans oil on a regular basis.. updated adaptor fixes this problem (we hope)
3.0LT CRD: seal on the inlet of the turbo lossens and causes an oil leak from the induction. fix: keep the hose clamp tight or fit new seal

All WH owners with a QII transmission should check the seal where the electric enter the trans for oil leaking out thru the seal.
Jeep know about this leak & have a TBS for it, Northern Jeep even carry extra new type of seal has its a very common problem.
I currently seating in the Jeep Dealer waiting to get it fixed so I can go to Melb Jeep Muster

Brother inlaws WH CRD
Turbo wind between 1500 & 3,000 rpm
bonnet out of alignment
creaking from rear suspension REAR SEAT FIX
creaking in front door rubbers

Cherren is is that the airbag light comes on or is it possible that it's actually all the lights that came on and then go off in the same orders as the self test, with the airbag being the last one? Mine has done that 4 or 5 times for no reason and Jeep replaced the ignition switch yesterday as there has been a few reports of them shorting out.

Ok mine;

Body - Bonnet out of alignment

Engine - 1. I have the unfixable "hemi shudder", IMO, it's transmission related (torque convertor)
2. Intermittently noisy valve train (lifters)

Transmission - 1. The shudder
2. Occasional rough 4th gear engagement on light throttle.
3. Leak (fixed) from somewhere? (5.7 runs different box to CRD)

Rear differential - Diff whine at 100 klm/h light load, dealer aware, yet to have ok to fix it!

Suspension - 1. also have the creak
2. Sway bar bushes on their way out.

Electrics 1. WAY too many dud batteries.
2. Dealer fit rear seat DVD failure.
3. Factory GPS on the blink occasionally.
4. ABS cycles when slowing uphill. I heard TSB to fix, dealer denies!!!!!!

Brakes - Factory pads suffer "pad buildup" very quickly when used for towing or driven with intent.

Cheers guys

I have blown my front diff bearings. Its currently getting rebuilt vehicle is now out of warranty (103,000km) but I have been complaining about the service 4wd light coming on continually. They have found a faulty sensor and after I pushed to find out why the sensor failed and the on going gear noise they fond the problem. ill keep you informed.

How do you guys feel about WH Grands? I just cant imagine taking mine away on a long off road trip without it breaking down

Nah..... I love the concept, the traction, the way it drives, and most of all the power! BUT, if I was to do another Cape or Outback trip, I'd be straight back into something Japanese......
Isn't it amazing how one can have so much faith in an entire country's motor vehicle industry!
