i have an SJ with a 360v8, which i have converted to a distributorless ignition. the distributor is therefore no longer required. ideally, i would like to remove it from the motor altogether, but i have read previously regarding other motors, that the distributor needs to be in place to hold the oil pump drive shaft in place.
does anyone know if that is the case with the AMC 360, or can i remove the distributor without consequence? note that i have an electric fuel pump, so if the distributor is connected to the mechanical fuel pump drive lobe, that is not an issue.
