Default Rear 12V power

Has anyone added any 12V power to the rear of the KK? I was looking at it last night and inside the compartment that stores the Jack in the rear, there seems to be some sort of power cord that looks like it is waiting to be connected up to something. If this was able to have a 12V adapter applied to it a cord could be ran out through the handle opening to supply power to an Engel Fridge or similar. It might be just wishful thinking.

My only comment would be that it would be better to run new wiring for an outlet rather than use the OEM stuff, particularly if you're planning on running a fridge.

Behind the right rear panel by the window. There is a 8 or 10 pin connector back there. I believe that the wire is meant for the amp that came on the nitros starting in 07 and was finally used on some of the 09 KK's

I don't know if it would handle the load of a fridge

Cheers guys, I think it is a 10 pin connector. I will get an external line run down there as suggested.

The KJ already had a 12v in the rear, but, it was not good enough to run a fridge, so I did also run 6mm wiring directly down from the battery, just make sure you add a fuse, and or (as I know nothing aboot engles) but maybe a battery protection voltage cut out, so as the fridge doesnt flatten your battery. With voltage protection the power will automatically get cut off when it gets low, so as you can still start your vehicle..

Hi everyone, I have only had my KK CRD LTD 2 weeks now and took mine up to Dargo on the QB weekend. I have a 60lt WAEKO and was disappointed and bemused that the car didn't have a rear 12vlt aux? Anyway to cut to the chase I bought a 3 mtr 12 vtl extension coil from AutoBarn for $11. It worked a treat and got me out of bother for the WE but it is not live if the key isn't turned to aux.

When I got my Cherokee, I was also confused as to why it only had one 12v outlet in the front (I'm sure every other Jeep in history has more than one...)

I ran a seperate line strait from the battery to a new fuse box, which I located under the plastic flashing in the passanger's footwell. I then ran seperate wires to 3 new plugs, each with their own fuse - A standard cigarette lighter socket in the back seats (for my daughters DVD player) and a cigarette lighter plug & a merit plug in the boot (for matress pumps, mini compressor & fridge etc).

Until I come up with a solution to installing a second battery, I just have to make sure I use my gadgets wisely as to not flatten the battery.
