I have a maintenance plan purchased from Chrysler South Africa. They are insisting that the service interval is 15,000 kilos which is about 9,300 miles. My manual states service intervals that are much more frequent than that depending on the vehicle operating conditions. I have asked them for a letter accepting responsability and all costs related to a failure as a result of ignoring the recommended service interval and service schedule "B" (which matches my operating conditions).
Could others who have a maintenance/service plan please post here what intervals that their dealer works on their vehicle and which maintenance schedules are used.
I am not trying to get something for nothing and simply want what I paid for and for Jeep's documented recommendations to be followed. No more, No less.

My vehicle 2007 XH Commander 6Cyl CRD service interval in Victoria is.... every 10,000 Km as per the Jeep manual. The three year warranty I have is not a Jeep one its from the dealer. However the dealer states that any failure to Service as per Jeep recommended service interval (i.e every 10.000 Km) would void any warranty claim....SO for me its every 10.000 km.

Yes of course. Thats what I think it should be. I am planning a trip of nearly 14000 k's through Namibia (sand sand sand), Botswanna Delta (wet wet wet) and Zambia (rough ruogh ruogh). Now my manual says in these conditions follow schedule B which calls for oil changes etc every 5000 k's which makes perfect sense. But Chrysler SA sa "Nope Jeeps sold here have SUPER POWERS and can withstand the toughest treatment and only need to be serviced every 15000 k's". Yea right....... I am going to the press with this one.
I think that even 10,000 kms is too long for a service, paticularly if the car is a long term ownership prospect. So for me it is a service every 5000kms or 6 months regardless of usage.

These modern diesels with super high pressure injection get much better atomization than older style diesels. This in turn makes for much more complete combustion with less unburnt fuel and soot. Also the new synthetic oils are much better than older formula oils. The recommended change interval of 10,000 kilometers is very conservative and borders on overservicing for these engines. I change at 10,000 because it is under warranty. But in Europe these days most engine makers are putting differential pressure switches on the filters and the oil is changed when the alarm comes up 12 months or 30,000k's whichever comes up first. With regard to synthetic oils when i checked up on synthetic diff oils, i was told Volvo trucks recommend changing the synthetic diff oil at 700,000K's the tests they did suggested it was good for 1000,000k's but they wanted a margin of safety.
You could always check with the experts give Castrol or Mobil technical a ring.
