I have been looking for a 5 pin relay and can not find a supplier other than $60.00 jeep parts.
It's the small relays in the drivers side engine bay number 4671168A 33805K.
Someone must have then here.

5 pins sounds like SPDT, something like this should substitue: http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SY4070&form=CAT2&SUBCATID=979#1

It might not be a direct replacement, but if you can figgure out how the factory one is wired it should work.

If you need more help I can have a look at mine this evening.

Be a little bit careful though, some have a changeover set of contacts, the other has 2 n/o contacts that both close. I saw another relay that looks the same but has a resistor across the coil. S/cheep, Repco, Aussie Auto or any motoring store should stock them.

It may be dear because it is designed for the circuit/vehicle.
ECM relays can have a clamping diode that prevents damaging volt spikes (inductive kicks) from being sent back to the ECM when the relay coil is de-energised. Relays for non-electronics circuits (spotties etc ) are not designed or suitable for ECM applications.
It may seen steep in cost, but if it is an ECM relay, then how much is your ECM worth?
Matt.

The 4671168 relay is used in my 2004 TJ and I picked up one in a local Auto Elect shop in Canberra for around $30

Take it to your local Auto Elect shop they may have one.
Or try Ebay.

Can anyone please tell me why one 96 XJ would have 4671168A 33805K relays in the fuse box under the bonnet and another 96 XJ would have 4671168C 72472M relays? What's the difference, are they inter-changeable?

is the fuse hold/box the same or is one the 1996 and earlier and the other 1996 and later (update version). My 1996 has the same fuses as the 1998.

If they're Bosch search online for the Bosch part number. When sourcing Ferrari and other euro parts we always went to the Bosch distributor instead of dealer parts, they were usually 1/3 the price.

These are the ones that I have, they have different part numbers on them but are the same configuration, ie 1 NO and 1 NC contact....
