3.5 grand for air lockers aswell looks like a good deal to me. Any1 see any problems with it as i am new to all this. presume shocks mounts will need to be changed.

Thats $3600 plus shipping which will be expensive, plus you are going to require a d44 housing to fit the Xj on top of that....

plus fitting cost as well add another $1000 for that .unless you can do it yourself. probably 5 k all up.

5 grand seems fair for 2 new axles and air lockers. A mate got his front and rear locked for 2.5 grand in a triton so 5 grand looks good to me. any better options?
the guy told me it would be cheaper if i got freight forwarder. I dont know what that is haha ?

Personally unless you already have a d44 housing and you can do the set ups yourself I doubt that you will have any change from $6000 or more....

It does say "super30" and "super 44" kits which I am pretty sure includes axles and it also does show axles for both ends in the pic.
Duty will apply and will be $$$ but shipping will also be mucho dinero.....
My last purchase from the US was around $350 for shipping and was much, much lighter and smaller than all this gear.....

Contact 123 engines in regards to shipping, they have a shipping yard in California and ship containers over every 5 weeks. You'll have to organise freight inside the USA to their yard and pay all duties and taxes for your purchase when the container lands in AUS.

It all seems a bit complicated for my liking. what is the most simple solution for running 33s or 32s ? thanks for the help. My best option is to buy a scratchy and hope I get lucky.

Sound nice, but you'd tripple the price of the XJ.

superior also sells a super 35 kit that eliminates the c clips so you wont need to change over to a D44 rear housing.

can be bought with the choice of a couple of different lockers.
for 33's i think the D35 with a c clip eliminator kit and cromo axles would be more then strong enough

I'd be having a chat to Wooders myself, buy the time you pay import tax you may be no better off.

I am pretty much just starting to learn about 4x4 and cars in general so bare with me, just wondering if this kit is ok. I presume it would be easer to install.

No easier to install just uses your D35 housing instead of a D44 housing. What size tyres are you planning on running, 4.88's really need 35's as a minimum!! I wouldn;t run 35's on any D35 rear end.

it said you can get 4.56 down grade for free haha. umm looking at running 33s 12.5. i have called every wrecker in perth for a d44 but no1 has them. is your d44 from a tj?

Steve F

Yep, a TJ D44. Very very unlikely to get a XJ D44 here as they were never sold here. If you're looking at 33's seriously consider the D44 or 8.25. An upgraded D35 will take it to about the same strength as a stock D44 (or braced), an upgraded D44 will be a lot stronger than any D35 you could build.

cheers mate

do u by any chance know the gear ratio in thed44

Stock TJ is not suitable for the XJ, I think its 3.07 (Manual) and 3.73 (Auto) or something horrible like that.

just got quoted 1.6 k for a Dana 44 out of a tj. I have no idea if this is reasonable.

Hold out for one off of here, should be able to get one for under $500 (mine cost me $250), $1600 is ridiculous for a stock TJ diff, speak to Wooders you could get a new 8.25 ready to bolt in for $20 more than that and that's with 4.11 ratios already installed so a big saving there as well.

You need to remove the spring mounts off both a d35 and a d44 housing and then fit the leaf spring mounts and shockie mounts to the d44 housing and make sure it is all alligned properly.

Then you need to set up the gears properly which can be done at home but you need to right tools and know-how.....
