Hi all, :D

I have a '94 Cherokee here in New Zealand to go with my '02 KJ. It is not a bad old girl and I am quietly getting it back into shape. It has 147000km (91000 miles) on it. I have had the dealers (yes I know :monkey: ) do the trans fluid and transfer case with ATF+4.

When I put it into 4x4 Full Time and give it a little gas it seems to be a bit noisy from the transfer case area. It is as quiet as a mouse in 2WD. I do know they can be a little noisy as my last 2 have made a little extra noise in 4WD. But this one seems much noisier under load at about 35-60mph. :o

Have any of you had a similar event or are there any obvious suggestions:?: I have a feeling my trans mount might be gone too as it bangs and carries on in reverse.

Thanks

Oliver

What sort of noise is it?

Hi,

A bit growly under lightish load in 4x4 Full Time. The concensus is that it might be a slack chain.:% Common apparantly where soem owners that don't read the manual and can't take a hint from the coloured labels on the shifter get part time and full time around the wrong way. This causes wind up and therefore stretching the chain.
