hey guys my gf has a 2003 pink tj jeep wrangler, and was curious about the motor in it, ive been informed that they r not so good, its got 165,000 klms on it.
it is a 4ltr petrol manual with exhaust,

just wondering how long that motor is good for or should i be starting to think bout new motor?

also, as for a new motor has anyone done a RB30 fuel injected turbo motor into a TJ?? cause thats what i want to do, would be great to get sum advise on what to do, cheers..

also what so people think bout a 2" body and 4" suspetion, is it to much??

A Toyota 2jz motor would be easier, do a search for Toyota 2nd into jeep, it's been done before, the trans is a variation on jeep aw4 auto.

6" lift is big, what Tyres you planning on running? Factor in a sye too.

1jz and 2jz can be done using using a a340/aw4 hybrid built trans .
i dont know but it sounds like someone is talking trash about the
jeep motor as they tend to go for ever if looked after

couldn't agree more!!! the 4.0L is SOLID i have seen heard of them going for 450,000kms... no reall need to upgrade it unless your doing some serious stuff....

Personally i will convert mine to a diesel when the time and funds arrive... purely for fun, fuel and torque however....

Id personaly like to put the ford turbo 6 in it with Patrol running gear

2 inch body and 5.5 inch springs will work better, and give you more flex, on/offroad road performance, and looks.

actually i have a set of 5.5 inch rubicon springs, 1 year old you could buy cheaply.

if i was to lift my jeep anything over 4-5" i'd be looking at long arms, be bone jarring for a daily...

RB30s were manufactured up until early 90s, the replacement motor must be of the same year or newer of the vehicle it is going into.

I would be very interested in a 1j/2j swap. Could do an NA 2J motor for very very cheap, and just turbo it down the track. a 200rwkw highcompression motor in a TJ would be awesome.

the 4.0l6 is a great motor i accidentally cooked mine at 140 degrees and all it needs is a set of rings but if i hadnt done this it would have lasted me out:wall:
however an rb30 in a jeep i doubt would be any good not enough torque my father had the 2.8 in his GQ said it went like a shower of shit on the red line but had nothing below and wouldnt pull shit off a blanket.
thats alright for sand work but imagine rock crawling where ur riding the clutch trying to go forward ever so slightly and sitting on 6,000rpm and the clutch half engaged:shock:

was at the wreckers the other day and spotted a couple of cherokees with the 4.0L6

one of them had well over 400,000 Ks and the other over 350,000 Ks, so 165,000 Ks sounds buggerall.

with the suspension and body lift sounds like you need to do a lot of research first before you get carried away as there is a fair bit to consider

It would probably stall at every set of lights you tried taking off at imo.....unless you gave it some.

Fruitless swap imo. 4.0 barra pushing some psi behind a ZF 6 sp would be nice though....

Bear in mind a tj is around 600kgs lighter than a GQ... That's a lot less to move.

And wouldn't a barra 4.0 be in front of a ZF?....... Just sayin' :)

didnt actually know this till that show "1 car too far"

and they said 4cyl and i was like ew diesel and they they opened the bonnet and it was petrol!:shock::shock: doubt they'd have sold many of them in the us if it aint a v8 they dont want it lol. would have been hard enough to sell it with the 4.0 haha
