Has anybody installed the polyurethane bushes into suspension components on their tj? I have a 99 model that needs pretty much all of them and on eBay there is a super pro kit which looks like it should do the job. I have had them in a navara before and it handled great but wasn't sure if the jeep would be the same or if rubber bushes are better suited.
Sorry If there is a thread on this already did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Will last longer with poly and will handle better/firmer on road but wont flex well offroad and puts lots of strain on control arm mounts etc, if you are wheeling it stay away from poly.

Thanks zookman I thought that maybe the case but wasn't 100% sure. definately prefer to use it offroad rather than on.

So people i have been looking for the rubber bushings and seem to find more and more poly style rather than the rubber.
In saying all that i know i can get actual jeeps ones but havent even bothered to get a price yet cause in canberra i now that they will be quite a bit.
do any of you know a place in australia i could order them from?
On the other hand i have also been told by a mechanic that the red poly bushes are ok and do flex well still and will work well with a 2.5" lift kit that i plan to put in at the end of the yr. Has any one used these type of bushes?

cheers for any info

if u plan on lifting it id just buy new adjustable arms and be done with it the standard arms have a habit of folding in half.
and the adjust ability of the new arms will keep ur pinion shaft angle in check

Ok cool. But would I still need all the other bushes as they are worn out as well. I found a hyper flex kit which looks pretty good from Morris 4x4 which is in America so I have to find out about postage costs.

The Super Pro ones are better than most poly stuff, Nolethene are too hard and regular urethane is to soft and will stay squashed once flexed. A fair bit of the US stuff are using the soft blue urethane say like, Moog "problem solver" for the sway bar bushes. Rubber is the best but if you can not get it then Super Pro will be ok. Super Pro are not as hard as the Nolethane as they have a gel inside the hard outer shell.

X2 bushes are like $15 at wooders.com.au. Having said that if you need CA bushes then you may be better to get new CA's. If the arms are like stock XJ ones and not solid the bush ring tends to stretch when you fit new bushes into old arms.

Cheers thanks heaps people I will give wooders a call and see what I can get. Pretty much anything that is rubber under my jeep needs replacing all cracked and worn out and have seen a few kits in the super pro and the one from Morris 4x4 so was just going to strip it down and replace everything so it's all up to scratch. One of my other mates has also put me onto autoparts specialist as he thinks I will get lift kit and bushes all for a good price. Will let you know what I come up with.
Once again thanks for the help. :)

Hey Thirsty where do you go wheeling in Canberra? I am just down the hill in Batemans

The brindabella mountains are good and am heading out there today. With a few other fwds. Also yalwal is only 1.5 hrs away from me. Corin Forrest is also good for a quick run when we only have a few hrs spare. There are a lot of closed tracks up here atm tho as government is upgrading cotter dam. We r going to try out bungonia gorge in a few weeks as apparently there are some good tracks out there as well. We have to travel a bit for most of our wheeling.

OK sounds good, I got a few mates up there with wanna be jeeps (patrols) we usually go to Yalwal.

Haha nice. One of my mates has a patrol the other a triton and one of there dads came with a range rover. Good to have a mix I recon as you see the different strengths etc of different vehicles. Mine really needs a lift with better tyres tho as diff seems to be the only thing stopping me getting some places constantly dragging it atm. I want to try out pork chop hill down your way tho I heard it goes alright. Of you come up anytime soon tell your mates to take you through corin Forrest as most of the technicle trails are there currently.

my mate does pork chop in his patrol, its a matter of hitting it with enough speed. not my thing though

Ok I would probably be the same then. Prefer to crawl up technical trails rather than bash my way up with speed. Might try it on the dirt bike still tho.

Are there different grades of hardness when it comes to polyurethane bushes? I spoke to one of the tech reps at super pro and he was telling me that their bush replacement parts for the wrangler is only slightly harder than stock. He said it will still allow proper articulation of components without putting extra strain on the mounting brackets. Im not sure whether to beleive him, I'd rather get real world feeback.

yes, there are different hardness of polyurethane. same as there are different hardness of rubber measured in the "Duro" scale, eg duro 80, 90 etc. not sure what poly would be measured in but assume same scale
