Need to drain the coolant on my 99 Diesel XJ and the radiator bottom hose is a pain to get to, because of air con pipes (see pic), would pulling the other end fo that pipe (see pic) still drain it ok?

There are 2 drains
1/ lower left on radiator.
2/ Engine drain is RHS rear of block above the starter.
Bastards to get to.

Yeah, i decided the block and rad drain were not worth the effort, jsut wondering if pulling that pipe would do it?

I used the drain on the radiator. Little bit of mucking around taking out the headlight surround and grill.

I also;

- attached length of garden hose (plastic tube would work better) so as not make a mess.

- faced the car downhill (my driveway is steep enough to make the radiator drain the lowest point).

Hope all goes well.

Just undo the other end of the pipe (as you are asking) and poke it down low - it will drain most of it out OK

leave the proper drains alone - much easier
