G'day Jeep owners
Got a my first real Vehicle a fews days ago :D, A Jeep Wrangler TJ sport 1996.
Apparently the springs had been replaced about a week earlier (they look new) with dobinson super flexi coil springs.
Anyway the rear springs look like they are sagging, there is no weight in the back only the back seats and a speaker system weighing both total about 20- 25 kg max.
The measurement from the front guard is 98 cm and the the back about 80 cm, correct me if I am wrong but isn't the back supposed to be higher because it feels like I am driving up hill and doesn't it affect aerodynamics?
Is there anyway to adjust this problem?
Thanks ya in advance!
Colby

my back is higher than the front, even with load. they are stiff 5" teraflex springs.

you could get some spacers from ARB. they are like $10 each. 10mm. pretty easy to install. just sits in the spring cup on the rear axle

Thanks for replies
Sorry, I should have measured the length of the springs before. lol
Front are: 15" exact and Back about 8".
The way it is now looks like it's almost dragging it's arse down the highway. :?
The seller said it was a + 3".
On paulh's suggestion the back springs should be about 11". :-o
I will have a look a ARB's website for either some spacers or new springs!
Thanks
Colby

Is there a way to cut the front ones down to match?
Here is the website of the springs, the back ones only have one size a 35mm lift.
http://www.dobinsonsprings.com/docs/catalogues/4x4/pdf/JEEP-53.pdf
Maybe when they got swapped over the previous owner put on the front 40mm ones.
Also does anyone in the bundy area have any stock/any springs they wanna get rid of?
Thanks
Colby

can we have a side on photo of the whole car so we can see how bad it is?

do the rear springs look new as well? do they have any markings or tags to identify the part?

are there transfer case spacers installed?

Lets hope the stock ones werent put back in. means a slip yoke eliminator and new rear drive shaft... Maybe upper adjustable control arms too... maybe even an adjustable track bar...

That's what I'm thinking. But if so, who's got, or where is the rest of the kit!?

I saw the TJ yesterday when Colby dropped into work. The way the Jeep is currently sitting, it looks like the rear is fully loaded. It is sitting down alot. Shocks are Pro Comps and if those springs were new a couple of weeks ago, I think the previous owner was had coz they sure do not look new to me. If they were new the TJ would be sitting up higher in the rear. The front coils appear to be the type of coil that extends and extends to give huge downward travel without disconnecting from the Jeep. I can't remember what they are called however. They are all Dobinsons springs though.

As for secondhand springs, I'm sure there would be some somewhere around Bundy. Good to see you on here, Colby. Welcome aboard :-)

Thank you for all the replies, I had to make a dash to brissie for 2 days so I won't be back till saturday night.
Here is the link for it http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321001817047?nma=true&si=cN2zjmwy9x6Uj9A7SwJgA6sg3dI%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=true#ht_548wt_1203
I got it for a lot better price than that.;)
Sorry thats the best I can do at the moment.
I believe the Shocks were installed in 2010 so not new.
I have checked for some id numbers but could not find them at present.
Yes it looks to of had a new slip yoke eliminator and definitely a replacement rear drive shaft as the old one was sitting in the back.
Also there have been new transfer case spacers installed.
Thanks for the welcome!
Thanks

Problem Solved.
A Bloke over at south bundy had just sold his jeep, he got his new and replaced the springs with a 4" lift and everything else you need to do for a lift.
Anyway I got all the stock springs, shocks, steering arms etc.... off him. ;-)
I am going to change them over this arvo.
I will upload pics of before and after.
Thanks

Toff, why would it be wrong?

Now that I see the difference I think I wanna go find a 3" dobinson rear coils to fit.

I think he means it wouldn't have spacers if it had a sye and ds, but it seems it does. Yeah get some springs! Your almost there, may as well go for it. I'd look at getting rid of the spacers as well
