So I spotted this on eBay...
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/130766953371?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

And wanted to ask the experts on here lol.

As I read the ad, I assume that a stock slip yoke on a wrangler (1995) is longer than my 1995 XJ one.....is that correct?
Seems like a simple upgrade, and I am considering it now. I may not buy the eBay one but price up new ones locally....

Is this correct? or are they the same?

Honestly the best upgrade that you can do is a SYE as it removes the slip joint altogether which also removes the extension housing off the end of your 95 242 t/case which is a common source of leaks.....

I have been looking into that, but am not quite sure what to buy.
Can't seem to find a full kit ready to go, just many different parts etc that need to be purchased...
Do you know of any full kits? Wooders aren't real flash at returning emails lol.
Is the front the only one you should do, or both front and rear?
I was assuming the ebay ad was for the rear, and a SYE would be good for the front.....
any experts want to edumacate me?
p.s. im fitting a 4.5 inch lift in 2 months (when I return from holidays) so im definitely in the market for these mods I reckon.

Also, if I have the fulltime, partime, high and low transfer case....is that a 242 or 231?

The front doesn't have a slip yoke shaft so nothing to do there. Tcase is s 242

So the front is fine with a 4.5inch lift? I just have to worry about the back? Sweet!

With an sye you can run a front shaft on the rear too.I may have a sye kit sitting in my shed.

Ironrockoffroad do a SYE kit that is basically a yolk that accepts a front DS for the back that you must "hack and tap" to install.

Take off slip yolk.
Cut down output shaft from Tcase.
Drill and tap a hole into centre of shaft.
Place yolk on and bolt in place using newly tapped hole.

That's the basic gist of a Hack n' Tap SYE. (Which will suit your 242)

Are you selling it?

I can help you with a front shaft as well if you like, I also run the IRO SYE in mine, easy to do.
If you have a 94-95 model with the wet yoke it will look like this,

And there for requires a seal kit which looks like this...

If you have a dry yoke 96- it will look like this....

Which is the easier to do due to the fact of no seal kit to fiddle with....

Mine being a 95 uses the wet yoke that I did some major mods to and now looks like this...

Very pleased with the result as that extension housing (black part) contains twin bearings which ensures everything runs dead true....

I have fitted a few of the IRO units now with no issues, let me know if you wabt a shaft as I have a few here at the moment....

My SYE was sourced from Iron Rock offroad...

I'm glad that the brackets arrived ok, let me know if you want a front shaft for doing the SYE as I have 2 here at the moment.....
