xj wont start and no bus on odo

wife rings me up today after going to the doctor,

XJ wont start, starter working fine turring over but she wont fire. The odo says "no bus"

even my scan gauge wouldnt connect to it.

Any ideas?

dave ive not experienced this myself but ive seen a few guys mention loose wiring harness plugs behind the cluster being a cause,worth a look.

Tried a reboot yet?

no havn't tried a reboot, but all my net research is pointing to CPS,

I'll pull that off tomorrow and check it with a multi meter

Dave, what do readings does a good CPS give? The sensor recently slid out of it's mounting bracket, causing me some grief until I checked the CPS.This was the first time the Jeep broke down since we bought it new in 1998. I've ordered a new CPS from the US on ebay.
