Engine bay in the fan shroud assembly on the drivers side - little tiny spring actuated button looking thingy connected to a single wire running down into the loom - looks as if its meant to depress with the hood down. What does it do ? I thought it controlled the work light in the engine bay but depressing it makes not difference to whether the light is on or off.

Sounds like alarm trigger for hood.

Thanks guys - its gone now cause i ripped it out completely taking out that fan housing. Lets hope it starts again or doesn't set off the horns when everything goes back in again.

I had the same on mine, finally removed it after it rusted itself down, hadn't been connected to anything for years. Mine was from an aftermarket setup which has also now seen the boot.
