I have had my XJ for just over a month now and it was still overheating after the complete cooling system was replaced. It seems that the idle control valve was not working properly throwing the tps out, the car was thinking it was off idle, then the TPS was making the computer do all sorts of things. The revs were not that high so I didn't think it was a problem but I was thinking maybe the computer started to do things with timing and fuel etc causing it to boil over at idle. Replaced it and now it seems to run fine. Has anybody else come across this?
