Hello, I'm writing because it looks like the power brake booster is shot in our 98 XJ. When I step on the brake pedal I hear a loud whoosh each time. When I get in a traffic jam the pedal goes hard very quickly and I need to stand on the brakes to stop.
It was a diesel model (it had the 2.5 VM but three years ago we put a Toy 2.4L in, not so fast but very reliable) and my question is simply this : can we put in a booster from a gasoline XJ or must it be from a diesel model? The P/Ns were different.
