Ever seen a UHF radio installed here?

Gday guys,

am thinking about installing an Icom IC400pro into the small slot just under the ashtray like so..

Does anyone know how deep that tray goes if i cut the plastic out of the bottom? Ever seen a radio installed there? I've seen plenty of other install options in forum posts, just not there.

Am thinking this would be the most ideal location. Easy to reach and easy to run cables. Have also thought about centre top console where the garage remote is, but i think the cable dangling there would give me the shits.

Ive got mine mounted up top, you get used to the cord. I installed a drawer knob to pull the cord back so the missus doesn't get the shits with it when she drives.

ive got mine mounted up top as well, however i think those overhead consoles only came with the post facelift model...those LEDs are looking nice btw :)

I've got a console up top as well. I think I would need to cut some plastic to make it fit properly up there. Tempting... I never use that space. Good idea with the cable retainer mate.

I used a clip from the sun-visor to hold my curly cord.
