Fuel tank/skid plate took a whack today.Dented it up a bit on the drivers side.Motor started spluttering, smelt really rich, and died.

There it no pressure at the fuel rail, line back to the tank is fine.Fuel pump runs, when key is turned on.
Is it possible that something on the pump was squashed? What is the best way to go from here?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Brent

Might of crushed the filter, is the sender unit still working?
Drop the tank, check connector.

Cheers,
John.

There's a plastic tube that links the fuel pump to the top of the assembly If the pump gets a big enough knock they can break apart. If that's happened a new fuel pump module is needed. 97-04 and 05-06 pump assemblies are different.

Pic 21 shows the bit that can break. It's the thin tube within the spring.

Well the fuel pump is simple so pull tank down. If u can hear fuel pump wining then it is geting power and should work so id say the suction on the pump has broken or bent.

Jeeps back on the road, many thanks to Jonny Jeep and Redneckjeeper .
Bashed out the skid plate, going to be like having a long range tank now.
Painted the skid with Rustkill paint ,as was a bit of surface rust.
