View Full Version : Trouble filling fuel

So anyone got a solution
Tank was pretty much and to fill it I had to stand there only barely squeezing pump trigger. Any more and it would click and not fill (due to the fuel level sensor). It's done this at a few different petrol stations and pisses me off because it takes forever to fill. No matter how far in I put nosel or how far out I place it or what angle it doesn't make a difference
Common problem? Any solutions?

pretty common mate.
about halfway in, quarter turn anti clockwise works fine for me

There is a minature ping pong ball (in the filler I think) it floats up and stops fuel going into the tank. I have seen one but can't remember exactly where it was on the tank. I believe it can be removed. It's supposed to be a roll over safety feature.

Have the handle pointed to about 10 o'clock, just above the rear guard.
Works for me.

Alright peeps. Ill try that next time. Otherwise ill look at removing that ping pong ball. I'd rather die than spend an extra 5 minutes filling my tank :p worthwhile sacrifice I think
I never go 'full insertion' with the nozzle and that works for me.
Handle at 10 o'clock position not fully inserted, works very well for me ,a cross between Richo and Wes

In my defence I have never met Wes or inserted my nozzle at 10 o'clock when he was present.

Lol I always fill my jeep with the elbow bit of the fuel pump sitting on the bit where the fuel cap sits and about a quarter anticlockwise turn always does the trick :) I posted the same thing on here when I first got my jeep lol

I find since i fitted the 11/4" body lift it straightened the filler neck and very rarely does it give trouble! But on the rare occasion it does, anti-clockwise 1/4 turn or trigger of nozzle at 3 o'clock!

I'm gonna find this ping ping ball!!!
Can only fill 3/4 of a tank an spend about 10 mins standing around dribbling the rest in. Not good when going o a long drive where you use 2 tanks of fuel :p
Is it in the hose of in the tank?

Quickly browsed this thread, all I saw was ping pong balls, just the tip not full insertion... Hmmm

you'll find this handy device if you remove the filler hose and have a peep in the plastic stem.

Ok so it's in the actual tank where the stem is. Awesome. I'm gonna remove that bugger good :)
