Hello,
Can someone tell what this part is on my 4.0L 2003 jeep engine?
It is making a ticking noise.

if it's making a ticking noise probably about to explode ;)

but seriously, dont ignore it as likely the top bearing is beginning to seize or fail and if left unchecked will break the pinion attached to it that's driven by the camshaft, resulting in a sudden loss of oil pressure and a world of pain

can be easily removed, dismantled and inspected
