Defected again

Well got pulled over on way home from work last night and the stupid highway patrol defected my jeep for tyres hanging out guards by almost 1 inch I have 33x12.5 tyres on 15x8 rims with back space of 4.5 I have another set of wheels to clear defect but want to fit my 33" or my 35" tyres back under jeep I already have bushwacker flares on my Tj. Will a different offset rim or thiner rims bring my 12.5" wide tyres under guards ? Anybody running 12.5 wide tyres and have them under guards if so what back space/offset rim are you using and what flares ?

I don't think you can tuck 33x12.5's any further than 4.5 BS.
If your tyres are hanging out an inch with bushcrackers, I'd say your BS is closer to 3.75.
7" flares will be your best bet but you won't find them in 'pocket flare' style. (The widest Bushcrackers are 6")

Can't answer all your techical bits but can assure you that 33x12.5 fits under with no hanging out ........I think my flares are bushwackers ?

7" should be fine....measure the amount of tyre sitting proud of the bodywork...

I am running 33.12.5.15 and have the 7" bushwakers on and mine do not stick out at all.

I had 6" Flares and 8" rims and they were fine until I got 10" rims then had to change flares.

Smarmy bastards! Not really, uncovered tyres flick a LOT of water and road debris and IS a valid safety issue for other vehicles. So I'm not sure why the cop is the bastard for enforcing incorrectly configured mods that effect other road users.

yes for a arb tow bar the ball was blocking the number plate well so that cop thought but etoll cams never had problem sending me a bill

i had 33x12.5r15 on 15x8"s 3.75" b/s with 7" flares covered beautifully 6" flares should cover the tread but i think ull have side lugs sticking out.

i now have 35"x12.5r15 on 15x10"s 4.5" b/s and they stick out a good inch or more

pics are the 35"s 10" rim 4.5" bs i think maybe 4.25?? i cant remember now

these are 33"x12.5r15 on 3.75" back spacing

also the flares are 7" rugged ridge flares and i have bent the front one up under the body and it just came back.
also they are strong enough that i stand on them while loading my roof racks, no cracks present and no stress lines either:cool:
