Normal 20l Jerry cans are a pita.
I've carried 2x10l plastic fuel cans on the top of the rear wheel arches, strapped to the rear roll cage stays.

Otherwise rotopax fuel cells, which are square and flat , 10-15 cm think dep on size, can be stored in places where normal jerries can't, ie behind rear seat, flat on rear floor etc.

Solutions I've seen are:
Bigger fuel tank, auxiliary tank, jerry cans on a swing away.
Also had a mate that was into dirtbikes use a boat tank strapped to his roof rack.

Avoid the ARB Long Ranger tank at all costs. Biggest regret I've had trying to deal with that mob.

I also have a BlackJack Welding rear bar with 2 jerry holders.
All up i had 3 x 20L Fuel jerrys and 2 x 20L water.

Cheers,

I'm keen to re-visit this thread.

My rear bar is almost dead and I'm looking to upgrade.

I'd like to be able to carry my 35" spare, jerry cans for fuel when doing longer trips and Hi-Lift Jack.

So far the Or-Fab is looking good, but would require a rear bar also.

Or Lod which seems good value for what you get, but not sure about adapting the jerry holders to aussie style.

Any other set ups worth looking at?

here is my setup. Bought a rear bar from black jack, fabbed up tire carrier at work. You can get a spindle and hub from supercheap, and viola...

Or you can talk to vic, i know he does the swing aways and jack mounts as well.

It sure is, hence I found a thread on the topic which had discussion on the topic and I added to it in the hope that owners who have some innovative or simple off the shelf ideas would post up.

I'm running an original Jbitz carrier Lexx from this forum made many moons ago. I've had to replace the spindle with a heavier duty item but the latch doesn't hold the swing arm that tight anymore.

I'm trying to work out if I can modify what I have or if I have to start anew.

I'd like what you have Mignight, it looks neat.

Eddie,
Here's what we were always planning to do to that bar. OlisTJ had done this to the green machine before touring OZ, from memory he had to move the tyre mount a few inches to the passenger side too.

Cheers Cal,

The bar has seen better days, but it is all still there.
I need to reinforce the frame mounts, and the latch before anything else can be added. If I put my weight on the swing arm, the stub axle doesn't move, the whole bar does!

Mine was moving alot too. I made a small shaft, welded some pipe onto some flat bar. Then drilled and bolted the flat bar to the back door.(with washers behind it so it didnt ruin the paint) Then welded the shaft onto the swing away so it line up inside the pipe, drilled a small hole and put an R pin in it so it doesnt move anymore. Also would keep unsuspecting would be thieves from getting in.
