As promised, some pics of the flexy flares on my TJ.

The front. I umm'd and ahh'd about whether the leading edge should go above the blinker or come down behind it - in the end I went above. I mounted the flare and then used a dremel to trim the unwanted flare - a bit of a hassle actually. For the other corners, I will mount the flare, mark the cut line, and the remove the flexy flare and use a jigsaw, then put the flexy flare backon. Anyway....

The rear. Its a bit hard to make out but you can see how much unwanted plastic flare I will be removing (tomorrow nights job). I also put on a temp mudflap that come within 300mm of the ground - I am doing all this to get engineered.

Lastly a sort of 3/4 view showing how high I mounted the flexy flare. If you go too high then the flare ends up sticking up in the air as the factory flare slopes in more at the top. Anyway for $100 and a few screws I will have my 33x10.5BFGs on 15x7 wth 3.75 BS rims covered. Only by a bees dick at the left rear as the axle is slightly off to that side.

After I get this rear finished....well then I can start the drivers side flares

when you say you trim the unwanted flare is that on the original flares?

Personally I think I would have brought it down behind the indicator. Doesn't look to bad though.

really opens them up :) the rear one works well, but as you say, the front is a tricky one, above or behind the indicator? hmmm does look kinda funny above it but i dont know if it would actually look better behind it or not.

maybe you could curve the front edge of it in so its not square?

Hey Matt, mabey if you get it done before the weekend you can dust the cobwebs off your jeep and come on the snow drive on sunday.

Yes - when I say trim the unwanted flare I mean the side bits of the original plastic flare. I had always planned to behind the blinker but it looked a little odd front on. I have angled the front edge slightly (hard to see in the photos) but not much.

The rear flare is going to look really opened up with the amount of plastic thats going :)

Buddha, I'll see if I can get away for Sunday if there is going to be any snow left - the ski resorts have had drizzle and thunderstorms :( I went to Corin last Saturday and the only snow was in the man made play area - everything else had melted.

Looks Good.

So you are going to remove all of the original flare that hangs below the rear flexy flare?

Looking good Matt, hmm gives me a few more idea's that I don't need at the moment. I really like how it's opened up the flare and given you a bit more room to move.

Didn't end up doing any cutting tonight - too late. But did screw on the otherside and the other mudflap. Jigsaw time this weekend. More photos then.

Laz, X-Rated are around $750 a set. I think TW sells some ones at reasonable price too - he posted yonks ago. In the US a full set goes from US$250 and up depending on their kwality.

Rubber cost me $100 and some screws. Go see the www.kaos4x4.com.au boys.

 There is? Oh well tell them I sent you then ;) Actually I just mentioned it because the sidemount version of the flexy flare was not that easy to track down. The undermount version sold ala Bushranger is at every ARB, TJM, Clark Rubber - but no good for TJs.

Anyway here are a couple of rear shots with the trimming complete

Using a jigsaw was nice any easy - removed about 6cm of flare from the rear sides and 4cm from the front. Measured out from the metal bodywork, these extended flares (factory plus rubber) are a tad over 6"[/url]

Still some more screws to be put in and some glue to butt the rubber up nice and close but I'm happy how they turned out. Now need to think up my quick disconnect rear mudflap system.... :?
