OK,
I am going to buy my ratio's this month, and next month my lockers.
The question is,HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST ME FOR 4.56 RATIO'S FOR A DANA 30 +DANA 44 WITH ALL THE GEAR I NEED?????
Also who do I get them off???? :?

I thought with the local knowledge from this OZZY forum, it may save me the running around.
Thanx

P.S. I am not really interested with importing the things myself from the US.

Wolf,

There are many suppliers throughout AU. At present, "Supa F Series Spares" are doing great prices on genuine forged DANA gears. Their contact details are:

F Series Spares 92 Hume Highway, Somerton. VIC 3062

BH: 03) 9305 2522

They use a decent road freight service or overnight air bag if you are in a hurry.

The end cost will vary depending also on the locker you choose. ARB's aren't just alittle more to buy, but a little more to install and you need to also allow $$ for the Air compressor etc.....

All i can say is that the total cost for the D30 and D44 R&P plus the makeup kits is about $1200AUS including customs if you import them yourself

What kind of difference in revs is there between:

Stock
3.6x
4.11
4.56

What will be the gear changes between each of those and expected revs at 60km, 90km and 110km in 4rth and 5th gear respectively

price also depends on if you get Dana spicer gears or the cheaper mexican/brazilian types

we have 4.56 and 4.88's for $1044 now, and rebuld kits etc, thick ring D44-4.1's for $699 so you dont need to lash on a new carrier rite away.

as for front carriers we have bare hemi's or change over bare hemis to suit 4.1's & up cheap.

CrazyNuts, I assume you mean keeping the stock tyre size? Normally people change ratios to keep the overall gearing reaonable when they fit bigger tyres - so the rev won't change that much for each speed.

But anyway...

There are a gazillion ratio calculators on the web to keep you amused like
http://www.dfw-tx4wd.org/gears.html

For a quick comparison I prefer charts such as
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tirel_Gear_Ratio.asp

That sound's good guy's.But as I said I am not interested in importing the crap myself.
As I am running 35" muddies @ the moment I am looking at the 4.56 gearing.
This should bring me back to factory spec's.
The prices are pretty close to what I had anticipated on.

Wolf - 4.56 with 35's is deeper than factory...infact so is evebn 4.10 with 35's....3.07 with stock is closer to 3.73 & 35's.....
If I get bored later I'll do th math...but facotry ratio sucks for factory tyre size 4.56 is a great match with 35's IMHO...

Mark, some are performance gears, some are Dana. depends on the ratios you want. the thick ring is Dana.

TONY,
I just want the strongest and the best when it comes to this sort of thing.
I dont want to do it all over again IF anything shits itself later,so I'll do it rite the first time.

woolf, as far as I know there all pretty much the same, some brands might be "noiser" than others but as far as pinions and crown wheels breaking /not being strong all Ive ever heard of was some precision gears might have broken in a GU patrol or something BUT I cant confirm that, not can I confirm if that did happen that there wasnt some other element that was the key to the disaster.

all the diff gear brands are going to stand up to the same abuse as far as I've seen in my time.
