Q1) What are the tabs along the under edge of the tub below the doors for?
Q2) I am taking off my original plastic side steps and getting some steel 'rock sliders' made. Are the mounting points on the chassis from the original side steps strong enough or do you all recommend something else?
1) From what I know they are for the plastic side pannels that go onto the renegade models.
2)If you want "super duppoer" strong then you have no choice then to bolt and screw into the body and chassis. Bt if you only want something that only needs to be bashed around on rocks and help you get in then bolting around the chassis is just fine.

lexx the original plastic steps actually run 3 bolts directly thru the chassis, the only problem i can see is that the braces wont be far enough apart. would probably be good enough if you ran another 3 bracers either side of the original holes.

I thought the brace distance would be a problem to. Have you made any type of slider yet LEXX. I have to have at least something to stand on to get in as my wife is rather short.
Yes we have made a slider/step Andy, we're just putting it thorugh some trail tests now and will be ready within 2 weeks. The set we've put on my TJ has saved my marriage, she loves em!!!!

Serious mate. Heep's still laid up in the garage though as I'm having problems with the motor mount spacers (can;t line the buggers up). Oh yeah and it has no rego because of the cracked manifold!. No pics yet but I'll take some when she's done
nice work wozza, maybe one day you can actually come 4wding! **)

i am semi keen on these steps too lexx - keep us posted
it would be nice if they had some sort of grip on them...
if not i would pop rivet a piece of chequer plate on somewhere.

I was thinking of skateboard grip tape, and you can get some good bikini girls in that stuff
I use the grip tape on the door trim to stop people slipping on it when its wet...but just be mindful women seem to get really annoyed when it catches on their skirt/pants as they try and jump out from a great height!
Grip has been added, it was always going to be installed but the missus got mighty upset the other day when she slipped off and almost made her legs 2 ft longer.
