My wonderful girlfriend has managed to somehow pull the rearview mirror off the glass in my TJ while driving it home tonight. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to stick it back there?

Really there is a product you can get from Repco for this, is is designed especially for this type of application, sorry can't remember the name of it but I'm sure the dudes at Repco will be able to help you out.

thanks, I'll ask them.

didn't really want to use tape as it would eventually just fall off again.

Loctite make the best kit I've seen for this and comes with the glass primmer as well. Also get yourself a new razor blade to get all the old adhesive off the glass..

Make sure you do it with the glass cool and in the shade. then once it's stuck, use a bit of tape till it's set for the full amount of time

Cheers

Don't you still have wing mirrors?
Leave it off. She'll only break it again later. :o

Is it legal to run without a centre rearview mirror? I guess leaving it off is an option.

I have no idea what she was doing billsta, she was driving the car home and I was on my bike behind her somewhere. She says she was just adjusting it and it fell off

Mine did the same on day one of our trip - Took it back to the windcreen place that fitted it and they replaced.

A tip I was told - If yo do get the glue to glue it back on - glue the metal bit only - rest slides on to that. Firstly rub metal bit on some flat concrete (technical huh!) before glueing - surface must be flat - Good Luck

Hey...I know someone who had the same thing...went to Repco and brought the real McCoy stuff especially designed for windscreens...problem is this halfwitted drongo stuck the mounting bracket on upside down...that wasnt too must of a problem but trying to lever it off with a screwdriver was....no big deal...O'briens stuck the mirror back on, after they replaced the window!!!!
Cant recall who that was now!!!

If ya going to re-glue the rear view mirror, maybe put it a bit higher than stock. They are way too low in the first pplace anyway.
