i seem to have developed a leak in the exhaust somewhere towards the motor
and was looking at a possable upgrade in the next year anyway

but i was wondering

1. if any of you diesel owners out there have done a replacement before ??

2. if so did you just replace with the same or something better ??

3. what did it cost or roughly what should i be paying ??

4. if you did get something better was it worth it / would you do it again ??

yeah i've been thinking about the same thing i got a quote awhile ago it was around the $300 for a new pipe from as close as they could get to the motor with out pulling half the motor out...that was a 2.5" or 3 " pipe and just a hot dog muffler....

but have not done it yet there has aways been soomething else to spend dollars on :(

aint that always the way

i am thinking from turbo back with hi-flow cat all in 2.5"

moses you are leaking most likely from turbo to primary drop pipe
think it eng out time to fix
if you are talking about free lowing exhaust you need to check this
the pipe goes up into this elbow
changes direction 90'
has a oval hole to fit turbo
well the pipe in mine blocked off bottom 1/4 of oval
this is right behind turbine outlet
removed this obstruct ion while pipe was out
so gas flow here is less restricted

Ive had to have the exhaust manifold gasket replaced (they nearly had to take the engine out just for that !!!!). I'd be asking if it was really worth the effort ??!!?

well at the moment my consumption is way up

gone from around 600 km to a tank to about 400 - 450 km

and at the price of diesel it may be worth taking the motor out to do it though i'd rather not

new muffler for $140 did the trick for me, well worth it.. sounds better and smoother to drive, les turbo lag. money well spent. the old muffler was extremely black and dirty blocking the airlfow

the prob seems to be between the turbo and the cat.............

Just had a thought - have you checked the recirc valve assembly on the manifold hasnt come loose. I had that problem early on. Just see if the four bolts holding it on are still nice and tight.

I'm wanting to take the damn thing off. its fkn on tight for me. Need something more than a simple allen key for it..

Putting sheet metal in place of gaskets on exhaust and intake sides of the valve. Seal it up good.
